Booking Guidelines
Choosing the right time of day can make a big difference in how your photos look and feel.
Below are my recommendations, but don’t worry if your schedule is limited. We’ll always make it work.
Outdoor Sessions
Golden Hour (Most Recommended)
Golden hour takes place about 1–2 hours before sunset and offers the softest, most flattering light. This is when you’ll get that warm, glowy look in your photos.
Morning Sessions
Morning light is low and gentle, creating soft, even tones in your photos. An added bonus is that popular locations tend to be much quieter earlier in the day.
Shade Session (Any Time of Day)
If timing is tight, that’s completely okay. Many locations offer shaded areas that allow us to avoid harsh light, squinting, and strong shadows.
Weather Note
Light cloud cover can create beautifully soft, even lighting and often photographs very well. If weather conditions are unsafe or extreme, we’ll always have a backup plan.
Indoor Sessions
Natural Light Timing
When planning an indoor session, take note of when your space receives the most natural light. Rooms with large windows and bright, indirect light photograph best.
Preparing Your Space
A quick tidy of surfaces and floors can make a big difference in your final images. It does not need to be perfectly styled, just simple, clean and lived-in. If you’re unsure which room will photograph best, I’m happy to help guide you.
Studio Option
If your home doesn’t receive much natural light, or if you’d prefer a more minimal setting, studio sessions are always a great option. I have several studio recommendations I can send over if needed.
Studio rental fees are typically around $100 and are booked separately.
Newborn Sessions
For newborn sessions, I work exclusively with natural light to keep the experience calm, gentle, and comfortable for your baby. Sessions are relaxed and baby-led, with plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and breaks as needed.
